For students enrolled in Years 7-12 at Kerang Technical High School
Doctors in Schools (DiS) aims to:
- make primary health care more accessible to students
- provide assistance to young people to identify and address any health problems early
- reduce the pressure on working families.
The program is guided by a range of key principles, including:
- Equity of access for students
- No cost access to a GP at school for student or parents/carers
- Youth-friendly
- Staff trained in adolescent-health
- Student confidentiality
- Cultural safety
How to Make a Booking
Appointments can be made by:
1. Contacting Ms Zoe Ferrier
a) in person
b) sending a message through XUNO
c) email: Zoe.Ferrier@education.vic.gov.au
2. Drop in to the clinic at recess or lunch time
3. Speak to another teacher who can make an appointment with
Ms Ferrier or the nurse.
Meet Our Team

Heather Spence
(Nurse Practitioner)
We are fortunate to have the services of Heather Spence (Nurse Practitioner) working at our school.
A Nurse Practitioner can help you by:
– Directly referring you to other health care professionals.
– Prescribing some medications.
– Arrange pathology including blood tests and X-rays.
– Talking about your health and provide treatment options.
– Writing certain types of medical certificates.
All matters discussed with the Nurse Practitioner/Nurse is strictly confidential. Information is not shared with any KTHS at any time unless the student requests. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to with their student.

Shannon Laursen
(Registered Nurse)
Shannon is a Registered Nurse who visits KTHS weekly to support our Nurse Practitioner with the Primary Care in Schools Program.
She has been nursing for 20 years after completing a Bachelor of Nursing at Latrobe University in Bendigo & has worked in both the hospital & community setting in metro & regional areas of Victoria.
Shannon has been involved with our Primary Care in Schools program since it began in 2018.Shannon is a practice nurse at Northern District Medical Clinic in Kerang & has worked here for the past 13 years, over which time she has worked in several roles. Shannon also works with the Gannawarra Shire immunisation team as an Immunisation Nurse & has done so for the past 9 years.
Shannon has a particular interest in adolescent health, immunisation, health promotion & community nursing. She is a former student of KTHS & has happy memories of her time at our school.

Ms Zoe Ferrier
(Kerang Technical High School – School Program Lead)
Ms Ferrier is a qualified Health and Physical Educator at our school and has a passion for enhancing the health and wellbeing of students. Ms Ferrier co-ordinates our program and ensures access for all students in a timely manner. You are more than welcome to contact her shall you require further information regarding our service.
