Secondary School Nurse
The Secondary School Nurse is part of the Wellbeing Team and works collaboratively to improve health, wellbeing and risk-taking behaviours among young people with appropriate preventative health care for young people, their families and the school community.
The role includes: –
- Health promotion, primary prevention and small group work focussing on health-related discussion and information.
- Collaboration with the school community and outside support services to develop activities to improve health and wellbeing.
- Advice, support and referrals to assist young people in making healthy lifestyle choices.
- Working with teachers to deliver health education sessions such as sexual health, body image, safe partying, etc.
- Provide appropriate primary health care through professional clinical nursing, including assessment, care, resources, referral and support.
- Supporting transition for students from primary to secondary school and within school levels.
