VCE

(Victorian Certificate of Education)

Kerang Technical High School offers students a broad and diverse range of VCE subjects. These subjects are outlined in detail in our Senior School Handbook. At KTHS our students have the opportunity to choose from a mix of VCE and VET subjects to complete the requirements of their VCE course.

The VCE stream is typically chosen by students who enjoy learning in the classroom and would like to achieve an ATAR score to attend university.

VCE is studied over a minimum of 2-years duration. Unit 1 and 2 subjects are usually studied in Year 11 and Unit 3 and 4 subjects are usually studied in Year 12.

At KTHS, Year 11 students typically study twelve, Unit 1 & 2 subjects (six per semester). Year 12 students will undertake ten units (five per semester).

At KTHS we also encourage Year 10 students to consider taking on a Unit 1 & 2 subject if they are capable.

To complete VCE, students must satisfactorily complete sixteen units of study. Three of these units must be English and two of those must be Units 3 & 4 of English. Units 1 & 2 may be completed as single units however, a student must complete three sequences of Units 3 & 4 other than English.
