VCE
(Vocational Major)
Kerang Technical High School introduced the Vocational Major into our Senior Curriculum in 2024. The Vocational Major (VM) is an alternative pathway for students to complete their VCE.
The Vocational Major is a 2-year applied-learning program where students can build a program to meet their individual needs. It is ideally suited to students who enjoy practical learning and do not require an ATAR for their chosen pathway.
Students must complete sixteen units across the 2-year program. These sixteen units include compulsory Literacy, Numeracy, Work Related Skills, and Personal Development Skills. Students can then build the rest of the program to meet their future aspirations, choosing from Unit 3 & 4 VCE sequences of their choice and VET Certificate II level or above qualifications.
With our diverse range of VCE and VET subjects’ at KTHS students can create a VCE VM program that is uniquely their own.
Students also have the option of spending time learning in a workplace as part of their VET studies also known as Structured Workplace Learning Recognition.
KTHS works closely with students to structure a Vocational Major that will see them ready to either step into an apprenticeship or traineeship, straight into the workforce or into further study.
